The Mini Pavois 2009, The End...

This last stage was very difficult and the crossing of the Bay of Biscay was hard for the nerves and very tiredness. In the end this Thomas Ruyant (Faber France) which cuts the first the finish line followed by Nicolas Boidevezi (G.D.E) and Bertrand Delesne (Raging Bull). Considering series boats it is Antoine Debled (Régionsjob.com), which prevails before Fabien Sellier (Surfrider Foundation) and Davy Beaudart (Port à sec Guy Beaudart).
Thomas Ruyant (Faber France) to category prototypes that uproots this great victory, he finished 5th in Step La Rochelle / Gijon. A cheerful and happy Thomas that sign with the Mini Pavois its second consecutive victory at the beginning of the 2009 season. That smells good for the September’s race, The Charente-Maritime/Bahia Transat 6.50. The Mediterranean Bertrand Delesne (Raging Bull) finished second with his brand new proto plan Manuard. Bertrand signs a beautiful season’s start by being 2nd in Gijon and 3rd in Birvideaux. 3rd, the amazing and friendly Rémi Aubrun (AT Children Project): 3rd and 4th in Gijon to Birvideaux.
On series side, the victory goes to Davy Beaudart (Port à sec Guy Beaudart) after winning the first stage of Gijon and being third in Birvideaux. Davy wins brilliantly the Mini Pavois 2009. Just a short distance separates him from Fabien Sellier (Surfrider Foundation), which ends 2nd of the stage Gijon/Birvideaux after finishing 4th in La Rochelle/Gijon’s stage. Hats off for Fabien who finishes on the 2nd step of the podium and crossed the finish line with a magnificent sea bass fished: offshore sailor and fisherman... all together... Finally in third place, there is Pierre-Yves Lautrou (Altaïde Moovement) who, after his beautiful 2nd place in Gijon, finished 7th at Birvideaux. He ends at the overall classification 2 hours before Antoine Debled (Régionsjob.com).
All boats are ashore and sailors safe... See you in September for the Charente-Maritime / Bahia Transat 6.50 2009.

Prize giving ceremony...

Even if the finish line was off Lorient, there is a prize-giving held at the Société des Régates Rochelaises in La Rochelle on Sunday 3 pm.

Thank you...

GPO would like to thank some people and organizations who helped to organize this "improvised" arrival to Birvideaux and Lorient: La Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly, AOS, Corentin Douguet and Sylvain Pontu for lending us a semi-rigid and Sylvain Maurel, Port Director of the submarine base of Lorient. Thank you to them...

The first words of Davy Beaudart winner in series overall classification

If series stage from Gijon to Brivideaux was won by Antoine Debled (Régionsjob.com), Davy Beaudart (Port à sec Guy Beaudart) cought the overall victory. That is a superb achievement for the skipper who won the stage from La Rochelle to Gijon, and ranked 3rd in the Brivideaux.
In the end, Davy got first at the overall classification before Fabien Sellier (Surfrider Foundation) and Pierre-Yves Lautrou (Altaïde Moovement).

Davy: "It was a stage of death! This was extremely difficult (...) I had to gain every smallest meter one after the other. (...) I did not sleep last night once again ... I really had tough times! In the end, I am very happy. I was only half an hour to the lead at one moment, and I thought it was over for me. I did not believe that option in the West would be this much fine... In addition, I arrive at my hometown, the top! "

Thomas Ruyant, winner of the second stage of the Mini Pavois 2009.

"It's huge! One more victory as I have already won this year's Pornichet Select 6.50. I am satisfied with this fine performance even if this second stage of the Mini Pavois was difficult nervously for at least 48 hours, we were sailing in sight all the time and this is not easy mentally. The crossing of the Gulf of Biscay, I'll remember it! I stayed a little more Easter than my opponents and I chose "gain little by little" by using all the shifts of wind and all the putts of wind. I really took all the opportunities because there was not much wind. Then with the arrival of an unstable soft breeze last night, I managed to gain miles until the victory this morning. This season on the Mini 6.50 circuit is interesting because many sailboats go fast. I think the level is quite homogeneous. The work done in January and February is paying. This is the first time I manage both my sleep and my diet. I am less tired than usual and now I know my boat perfectly."
